How is a Raven like a Writing desk?

How original are we really – go look at yourself. Do you have a head, two eye sockets with eyeball in them (usually), nostrils, lips…Guess what…Me too..same goes for arms, legs, toes right down to the number and placement…Here’s the part that makes me feel awed – we all have five fingers, yet apparently, the swirls, and whorls of our finger prints are unique to each of us.

There may be no new colours, no new notes to play on the piano, no new rhythm patterns. So what could we possibly add? Our expression of these things, our “voice” so to speak, or as Jimmy Page put it in “It might get Loud” (and I’m paraphrasing here) what makes something special/art/music is when the humanity of the co-creator lights the piece/instrument from within.

I feel it mightily unfair to dismiss something as unoriginal, perhaps another way of looking at it would be that you recognise this person’s influences. The one feels like a put down, while the other makes room for acceptance. I can hear that Jack White listened to Son House, but I’m glad he didn’t limit himself saying – too bad all the good three chord minor key songs have been written! I guess I’ll just keep upholstering couches. (Shudder)

I’m going to leave you with something that makes me think.

I say go get the polyfilla – it’s really not that expensive – and give it a try Hil, you have nothing to lose, and so much fun to have as you explore and gain that elusive thing called experience.
